Abstract:The Qinling Tunnel on Xi an-Ankang railway line is the longest railway tunnel in China. This tunnel was constructed by using the full face tunnelling machine for the first time in China. Based on the construction practices,the situation and the construction techniques at the entrance working section of Qinling Tunnel are introduced in detail,and several preliminary understandings which may be provided for discussion are proposed. It is recognized that there would be no big difficulty for constructing tunnel with nearly 20 km length in rather short working period. And, it is suggested that the corresponding governments should organize the departments of construction, design, engineering, supervision, science and research, etc, for summarizing the expriences,so as to catch up with the advanced level in the world.
