Abstract Research purposes: The investigations of fire extinguishing facilities for the storage track(shed)of the existing metro or light rail car depots in China and the storage yard of the high-speed railway in foreign countries are made and the analyses of fire characteristics and causes for fire in storage yard are made for the purposes of seeking the main technical difficult points of fire extinguishing for storage yard of EMU and working out the standards for it.
Research conclusions: The standards for fire extinguishing systems for different-sized storage yard of EMU are presented.
