Abstract Abstract:Research purposes: The Central and Southern Railway Corridor in Shanxi province is the first heavy haul railway in China. Design live load adopts: standard railway live load specified by P.R.C(2005) HZ, load factor Z = 1.2. The topographic features are very different from Watang to Hongtong North. The South Lvliang Mountain tunnel is the boundary line, the railway line crosses many ravines to north of the South Lvliang Mountain, the railway line lies in the Fen River terraces with open terrain to south of the South Lvliang Mountain. Considering the weather, topography and other factors which are controlling culverts type selection, the article makes study of the structural type, building materials and engineering cost, brings forward the culvert type selection principle for the Central and Southern Railway Corridor.
Research conclusions:(1) The statistical analysis of the whole culvert angle and height of filling showed that most of the culverts are high filled culverts, so it is necessary to make comparison study of the culvert type. (2) Through the comparison of culvert layout principle, it is clear that the slab culvert is suitable for the embankment where gully bed longitudinal slope is steep with large discharge, optimize the slab culvert construction material durability, meet the design requirements of heavy haul railway; Frame culvert is suitable for low embankment where the longitudinal slope is gentle within gully bed or flat plains, it has good entire structural performance and small amount of masonry. (3) By economic and technical comparison, and comprehensive consideration of culvert section rugged, culvert wear and frozen depth, frame culvert is suitable for the situation that upper filled soil is less than 6.0 m, or culvert section rugged height is less than 10 cm in flat terrain; In the area where longitudinal slope is steep within high mountain or deep groove terrain, slab culvert or ribbed slab culvert is recommended. (4) The research conclusions can provide references for the selection of the culvert type in mountain areas.
