High—speed Railway Promotes Development of Low—carbon Economy in China |

Abstract Research purposes: From the angle of comparative analysis of real examples,this paper discusses the comparative advantages of high—speed railway in respect of energy conservation,environment protection,control of sound pollution,land saving and lowering external cost,ect, compared with the other transportation modes and ordinary railway.With an analysis of the Beijing—Tianjin Intercity Railway,this paper further demonstrates the distinctive advantages of high—speed railway in respect of energy conservation and emission reduction.Besides,this paper also predicates the low—carbon effects after several high—speed railways put into operation in the coming years.
Research conclusions:Development of high—speed railway is significant to the sustainable development of society and economy in China.On one hand,it can substitute for the developed western countries transportation development way that cars is as the main transport means with much environment pollution and astonishing traffic accidents.On the other hand,it can make full use of the sequent advantage of the developing countries to quickly build up its modem and rapid traffic system with the concept of putting man first and realize the harmonious developments between the transportation and environmental resources under the guidance of scientific outlook on development.
