Abstract The landslide at Jiudunpo tunnel portal of Chuxiong-Dali expressway in Yunnan Province was a kind of landslide which was formed because of the stability failure of rock mass during construction destroying the slope section of a stablized ancient landslide. The landslide monitoring measures were adopted timely，the effective forecast analytical calculations were put forward，and the good results of landslide preventive treatment were obtained. They are valuable as reference for the similar engineering works.
