Abstract：Research purposes: With increasing server competition in transport market, the original planning principle for the layout of railway freight station can not meet the requirements of the new conditions , so it is necessary to optimise the layout of railway freight station based on the modern logistics concept for the purpose of enhancing the competition capacity of railway in freight market.
Research method : Based on the modern logistics concept , the study is done in combination with the real operational process of railway freight station.
Research results: The principles and methods are presented for the layout of railway freight stations in the entire railway net, terminals and interior layout of a station through doing study.
Research conclusions: The three main zones of storage and transport operation zone , production processing zone and office and living zone in a freight station shall be configured separately and the basic layout of these zones can be divided into the three modes: I-type , L-type and U-type.
