Abstract：Combined with the design of general layout for Guangzhou subway car depots,the paper introduces briefly the basic modes of general layout of subway car depot and their specialities. The paper puts forward also the explorations concerned with the optimization design of general layout of subway car depot in following aspects,such as the combination of requirements in the near future with the long-term forecast, combination of construction with the upper-built facilities, as well as the reasonable distribution of the car washing tracks，etc.
