Abstract：Based on the experiences in the provisional survey and the location survey of the Lanzhou^U lumchi second line project， the author reviews the cause and development of wind-drift sand in the Diwopo station area. The author gives also the summaries on the following aspects the cause， carrying type，blocking and accumulating style of wind-drift sand in Diwopu district，the harm of wind-drift sand to the railway，change of the dominant wind direction，history of wind-drift sand protection and the measures taken in the present stage.
