Abstract：The paper ex po unds the impor tant mea ning o f const ructing the Fuzhou-Shamen Rai lway. By analy zing it s po li tical and eco nomic ef fects and i ts ro le in the rai lway netw o rk, the inv estment estimations and the benefi ts fo r dif ferent schemes of co nst ructing this railway a re pointed out . To const ruct thi s rai lway is now at the right moment.
