Abstract Research purposes:With the development of high-speed railway in china, the design of high-speed railway and integrated transportation hubs has become an important issue in the traffic field, but there is a little experience about the planning and designing the integrated transportation hubs in China. Through studying the four international biddings for the integrated transportation hub for Hangzhou East Railway Station, this paper analyzes the characteristics of each bidding, probes into the final plan for the hub. The planning concept and design method used in the hub can offer the useful reference to planning and designing the large -scale integrated transportation hubs in China.
Research conclusions:Planning concept on the railway transportation hub should be changed from "single -direction, closure and intersection" to "multiple -direction, open and connection". In order to purify the traffic around the station, the different level and different purpose traffics should be separated. For achieving the target of "zero interchange" among the different transportation modes, the modern modes such as establishing multiple-layer and vertical transportation system should be comprehensively adopted.
