Abstract As an applied article, it introduces the application of remote sensing to scheme comparison of three railway routes leading to cast of ChongQing. Research on the background carried on by using satellite images and engineering geology interpretation by combining satellite images with aerial remote sensing images are described in particular. The situations of three routes, such as rock property, fault structure, unfavorable geology and karst, are primarily ascertained by remote sensing interpretation, which provides objective comprehensive evaluation of geological conditions for scheme comparison. Finally, geological conditions arc comprehensively analyzed and evaluated, on the basis of regional geological tectonic settings, unfavorable geology and major engineering geological problems.
