Abstract Medium material is used for the flash about welding of high manganese steel frogs to rails. No separated carbide is generated from the austenite microstructure in heat affected zone on high manganese steel frogs, nor martensite microstructure appears in the heat affected zone on rails. Excellent weldability is realized at the welding joints. This technology is employed in the welding of high manganese steel frogs.
