Abstract The Laoguochang-Lizigou section of Neijiang-Kunming Railway was a rare slope soft soil district in plateau with harsh climate, bad topographic and geologic conditions. The construction of high fill embankment in such district was difficult, not only the stability and reliability of roadbed should be guaranteed, but also its settlement should fulfill the requirement of the standard. The paper put forward the analyses in detail concerned with its design conceptions and a lot of construction technique problems, and good effects had been obtained in the construction practices.
