Abstract In the construction of tunnels with soft surrounding rocks, the most difficult problem encountered is the poor stability of the rocks and the damage of the surrounding rocks by water. This paper describes the technology of enforcing the stability of the rocks and removing the potential water damage by applying deep boring grouting method to achieve the pilot consolidation of the rocks. It is well aimed at the construction of tunnels with soft surrounding rocks.
