Abstract The paper illustrates the cannotation and the origin of the computer's defect concerned with the year 2000,and expounds its influence and harm on computer system. The present situation for solving the problem concerned with the year 2000 in home and abroad are introduced, and the countermeasures which should be adopted arc also proposed in this paper.
