Abstract During the excavation of tunnels，the slide often occurred. The paper analyzes the main causes of the occurred slides and the slide mechanism. The patterns of the slides are concluded as 5 kinds，including 16 different types. The treatment methods are also proposed，which consist of two classes,i. e,the treatment of slide inside of the tunnel and the treatment of slide at the entrance of the tunnel. According to different situations ,the treatment methods are expounded in detail. These methods may be applied for reference.
