Abstract Based on the history records this paper discusses the important role of mechanization for technical progress in railway construction.Owing to the raising of mechanization level ,the tremendous changes have been token in the construction for railway bridge，tunnel and roadbed. All progresses in building quality,speed engineering technique and projects design are closely connected with mechanization. This paper also analyses and prospects the development of construction machinery for railway Construction in the future.
