Abstract The foundation treatment by forced tamping method，which has the specialities of high adaptability，low cost and rapid effectiveness，has been widely applied on the soft soil treatment for cutting into a mountain，filling up the seashore and the backfill treatment at Shenzheng Region in re- cent years. The crawler crane is a kind of important construction equipment for foundation treatment by forced tamping method. The paper illustrates the common accidents of crawler crane during the forced tamping on foundation treatment,such as the falling of crane arm，back draft of crane arm，failure of transmission chain wheel and transmission system etc. The reasons of these accidents arc analyzed and the safety protection measures are proposed.
