Abstract Due to the high cost of the imported machinery and their machine fittings and the difficulty for their purchase， the problems on disposition of machine fittings made in China for the imported engineering machineries should be taken into special attention. The main hydrulic pump of UH171 excavator made in Japan is a pump with variable output. After operating for a few years， it is reqired to refit it by some substitute fittings， but the selection of the substitute fittings was not easy-By exploration， comparison and selection in detail， an A7V 78LVIPFH0 hydraulic pump with variable output made in Chi na had been adopted. The procedure of the selection of this kind of pump and the effect of its application are expounded in this paper.
