Abstract Based o n the const ruction practices, sev eral main collapse and slide characteristics o n const ructio n o f bridge abutment , bridg e and culv ert jacking , a nd co nst ructio n of cut a nd emba nkment during railw ay construction of do uble t rack line in so uthern rainy regions are int roduced and analy zed systema tically in this paper. The cor responding protectiv e countermeasures a re propo sed also. They a re practicable a nd feasible, a nd hav e g eneral meaning to cont rol co llapse and slide and to guarantee safety of existing railw ay during the railw ay construction o n double t rack line in so uthern rainy regio ns.
