Abstract The reliable, suitable and convenient railway motor car should be supplied for the construction of Qinghai-Tibet Railway Line, and the operation and maintenance as well as for emergency rescue of the line future. This paper studies,demonstrates,analyzes and sums up the technical issues related to the selection of the power unit and mode of drive of railway motor car used under the special working conditions of high altitude,low air pressure,oxygen deficit,low temperature, grand wind and sand.
