Abstract Based on the Pan Asian rai lw ay planning and the China-Thai land railw ay planning , the pa per ex pounds the present situa tion and the dev eloping concept of the rai lway netw o rk in Southeast Asia. The route selection schemes, the const ructio n procedure and the future prospect s fo r const ructing the rai lw ay netw o rk in Southeast Asia are also proposed.
