Abstract Based on the widespread info rmatio ns, the paper int roduces the disasters caused by the alkali-agg reg ate reaction occurred in the engineering co nst ructio n at home and abroad. The cause of i ts fo rmatio n and i ts mecha nism a re analy zed. The ex terior speciali ty, testing method and prev entiv e measure of this kind o f reactio n are introduced systema tically. In o rder to prev ent the alkali-ag g rega te reaction in const ruction of Qinling Tunnel a nd o ther engineering pro jects o n Xi′a n-Ankang Rai lw ay, sev eral sugg estions a re pro posed also in this paper.
