Abstract The paper introduces the technolo gy fo r replacing the limesto ne ballast by the superio r quali ty ballast o n the existing railw ay lines. Based o n the testing result s in situ fo r the basic parameters of the railway t rack, the stabili ty o f the t rack bed wi th mix ed ballast is analy zed, and the applicable scheme fo r improving the w orking sta te of the t rack bed is explored.
