Abstract The di st ributions of the dif ferent facili ties in a railw ay terminal are v ery closely rela tiv e wi th tha t ci ty. They a re not o nly dependence but also constraint wi th each other. Therefore, the relatio nship betw een the rai lway and the urban si tuatio n should be treated v ery well in the desig n procedure. According to the analy ses o n the reqiurements of the interface betw een railw ay facili ties with the urban si tua tio n and the specialities of themselv es, the autho r proposes the sug gestions which sho uld be taken into at tentio n concerned wi th the posi tio n selectio n of the main facili ties in the rai lw ay terminal a nd the coo rdinatio n wi th the urban pla nning.
