Abstract There are complex topography and geology and many kinds of geology hazards in China. The geology works have important positions. The effects of geology words in railway engineering，including route selection，railway design, construction expense，transport safe?ty and so on，are discussed in this paper. The characteristics of geology works in technical idea，main study problem，technical method and developing tendency are also summed up.
