Abstract In the Na-Lai mountainous and depressed regions of the Nanning-Kunming Rail?way Line 9there are five underground rivers at Ganziping, Hongbujing, Baizhanmao?Huadiwan and Xiapogang respectively. Along the longitudinal cross-sectins of these rivers，the geologi?cal specialities are analyzed, its influences on the comparison and selection of a set of tunnels are discussed，and thus the optimum schemes of tunnel design have been determined.
