Abstract The paper describes the test principle and the testing method of Total Pressure Cell(TPC). The in-situ K0 value of the soil mass is inferred by means of the total horizontal pressure measured by the in-situ TPC in a project, and the test results are compared with both the empiric estimate and the value of lab Ka oedometer test. In the paper,the coefficient of in-situ horizontal consolidation is also inferred by means of relaxation test of Total Pres?sure Cell and Terzaghi consolidation theory and the test results are compared with the test value of the lab test and the pore pressure sounding dissipation test.
