Abstract Combined with the engineering and scientific research works，this paper introduces the design of the GPS control network for tunnel construction, the design of surveying programme, field surveying works，accuracy of data-processing results and the experience of GPS surveying. The principles are applicable for surveying the bridge construction control net?work ,the track control surveying，surveying the field control points of aerial survey, surveying on enlarging the national-class control points in the railway engineering surveying area, etc.
