Problems and Measures of Operating EMU in Existing Mixed Passenger and Freight Railway |

Abstract Research purposes: With the rapid development of economy, society and railway transportation, the transport capacity and travel speed of existing railways need to be further improved to meet the social demand, especially to fully tap the potential value in high-quality railway transportation. The improvement of the transport quality of existing railways and the adaptive transformation are important research fields for the country. This paper focuses on the Xining - Golmud section of the existing Qinghai-Tibet Railway, studies the problems of the electric phase insulator by the operation of EMU trains, and proposes relevant measures to overcome the original operational difficulties and meet the requirements of high-quality transportation and relevant safety regulations. Research conclusions: (1)After analysis and calculation, by adjusting the electric phase insulator and the signal, and softening the slope, the operation problems caused by the existing railway electric phase division can be solved.(2) In-depth analysis shows that both the adjustment of electric phase insulator and the softening slope have the problems of large investment, difficult construction, and easy to cause other operational problems such as land use. Combined with factors such as engineering economy and operational requirements, the method of comprehensive adjustment or removal of the signal is more feasible and appropriate.(3) This study proposes theoretical analysis and selects the Xining - Golmud section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway as an example, aims at the research on supporting facilities required for the adjustment of electric phase insulator, which provide theoretical basis for the subsequent operation of EMU on existing railways. The paper has a certain guiding significance.
