The Layout Research of Hubei Railway Passage along Yangtze River

Research purposes:The State Council issued a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation corridor planning of Yangtze River Economic Belt.Under the macro-background, research the layout of Hubei railway passage along Yangtze River, propose the scheme of planning and construction of railway passage along the river in Hubei province, to guide the planning and construction of Hubei railway passage along Yangtze River scientifically and reasonably.
Research conclusions:(1)Some problems exist in Hubei railway passage along Yangtze River, such as:the standard of passenger railways is relatively low;the distance of freight railways is not speedy; railways lack in Yangtze Gorges; the inter一city rail not form a network along Yangtze River. (2)The general idea of progress in Hubei railway passage along Yangtze River is that the rapidness and diversification of passenger transport meet the demand of different hierarchical passengers, the capacity of freight railways will be enhanced.(3)Build the Three Gorges Railway North Railroad,Yichang to Badong railway in preliminary period. Build the Three Gorges Railway South Railroad,Hefei to Yichang high speed railway in recent period. Build Yichang to Wuhan railway,Chongqing to Yichang high speed railway in forward period. (4)The program is used to guide the planning and construction of Hubei railway passage along Yangtze River scientifically and reasonably,to meet the demand of transportation,promote the development of local economic.

Research on the Scheme for Shanghai Jinshan Railway to Suburban Railway of Fengxian

Research purposes:Shanghai Jinshan Railway link to Pudong Fengxian and Jinshan Railway, can quickly connect Fengxian District of Shanghai with the city center through Shanghai一Hangzhou Railway. In order to meet the travel needs of residents along the rapid growth,and promote the development of Southbridge Town,combined with the controlling factors of Shanghai city rail transit planning,the overall planning of Fengxian District City,Southbridge Town overall planning city planning,this paper explored selection and line scheme of Fengxian suburban railway line station.
Research conclusions:(1)Integration scheme comparison of Tinglin Gulf, Yexie Gulf, Fengxian station integration program from urban planning,project investment, attract tourists and so on,the Tinglin Gulf integration program is recommended. (2)Line scheme comparison of the median strip program along Pingzhuang West Road,the north side program along West Pingzhuang West Road,the south side program along 61501 Shanghai Ring Expressway,from technical and economic aspects,the solutions of the median strip along the Pingzhuang West Road is recommend.(3)The line and rail transit line 5 constitute the rapid passenger transport channel which connects Southbridge Town and the surrounding areas with the central city,and have important added features to improve Shanghai city rail transit network layout.

Analysis of Length Value in the Transition Section of Road Speed Limit Zone
Research purposes:Speed limit zone transition section is to avoid that the speed difference of the speed limit zone adjacent is too large to generate traffic safety problems. Due to the same fixed rate limit may not be able to adapt to road conditions or traffic conditions certain sectors,so often raise or lower the speed limit value some sections,and use the sub-road speed limit scheme. The transition section length of speed limit zone becomes important parameter of speed limit study. This paper attempts by the analysis of the length of road speed limit zones transition section at home and abroad to propose a reasonable length of speed limit zone transition section in China.
Research conclusions:By comparing these three sets of theories (Zhao Liping's theory of Chang'an University, He Yulong and Sun Xiaoduan's theory of Beijing University of Technology and interchange accelerating and decelerating sections length theory in road specification),the following conclusion is found:(1)Chang'an University and Beijing University of Technology only gives the calculated value for decelerating section of speed limit zone,not calculated for accelerating section,there should be also the accelerating transition section between the speed limit zones.(2)The length of the transition section speed limit zone is recommended to use the value derived by interchange accelerating and decelerating sections length in road specification.(3)In highway and urban road,in the accelerating transition section of downhill section and the decelerating transition section of uphill section,when the longitudinal slope is greater than 2%,its length should be amended. (4)The research results can be used for highway and urban road speed management.

Research purposes:Now,with the railway construction,railway lines more and more go deep into the mine area,difficulty growing railway line selection,how to improve the accuracy of gob survey geophysical of railway is an important issue. For gob survey survey,field work of this researching aims to improve the accuracy of the geophysical survey of gob survey.
Research conclusions:(1)Controlled Source Audio Magneto Tellurics(CSAMT) data quality factors in addition to uncontrollable noise humanities,there is some non-human factors:the length of the error can be controlled from the electrode,the electrode spacing of the horizontal deviation of the horizontal magnetic probe bias.(2)The research of the non-humanistic noise can reduce the apparent resistivity error generated outside gathering,to obtain reliable and accurate geoelectric information.(3)The gob survey geological of railway in this researching,combined the geological problems for physical characteristics with the principles of magnetotelluric,improved the geophysical survey of the mined-out area of detection accuracy and resolution,satisfied the needs of the railway geological survey of mined-out area. (4)The research results can be used to guide the gob survey work on similar projects.

Study on Groundwater Chemical Characteristics and Erosion in Chengdu-Emei Section of Chengdu-Kunming Railway Line

Research purposes: Whether groundwater of railway engineering is the erosion or not is directly related to the project investment,project durability and safety,and the groundwater erosive is closely related to its chemical characteristic. Most of sections of Chengdu-Kunming railway line are in the plains,underground water level is high,the underground structure is inevitable to contact with the ground water. Through the groundwater sample analysis andcorrosive test,its chemical characteristic,cause,distribution and erosion are found out.
Research conclusions:(1) Ca2+ , SO42-, HCO3 content is higher in groundwater, Mg2+ , K+, Na+ , Cl- content is lower.(2) Ca2+, SO42- and the high value area of mineralization are mainly distributed in the gypsum from the development of K 0+000~K 80+000 m section,PH level along the road towards the numerical distribution is uniform, the distribution of corrosive COZ content value is uneven and irregular.(3)K 0+000~K 0+080 m underground structure engineering should improve the ability of concrete sulfate attack resistance; The three sections of K 7+800- K9+500,K12+600~K13+500 and K 63+000~K 63+900 m should improve the ability of resistance to chlorine salt erosion; All underground structure engineering should improve acid erosion and erosion resistance ability of CO2 corrosion. (4)This research result can provide the reliable geological basis and protection measures for corrosion for the segment railway underground structure engineering,Also be used for similar engineering survey and design.

Hazard Control of the High Embankment Constructed on Slope Foundation and Its Analysis

Research purposes:Due to project investment and using function,a lot of high embankments constructed on slope foundation during the past construction of the railway engineering. The high embankment hazards occur because of lack of insufficient construction experience on slope foundation of design or construction,or else lack of enough safety coefficients for saving project investment. The results of this hazard control and its analysis can be used to provide an important reference to engineering practice.
Research conclusions:The results of this hazard control and its analysis show that:(1)Loading term and grouting pile with steel pipe are the preference measures for emergency rescue of high embankments hazards constructed on slope foundation.(2)For the high embankments constructed on slope foundation,the drainage,filling material and foundation conditions must be strengthen,the safety factor should be much higher.(3)Constraint reinforcement piles should be taken for the high embankments constructed on slope foundation. (4)The research results have an important reference to railway and road engineering constructed on slope foundation.

Research on Linear and Nonlinear Stability of Long-span Continuous Rigid Frame Bridge with High Pier

Research purposes:The stability in the state of the maximum cantilever is crucial to long-span continuous rigid frame bridge with high pier constructed by segmental cantilever casting method. In this paper, the long-span continuous rigid frame bridge(90 m+168m+90 m)with high pier in Shanxi provincewas taken as an engineering background,and the maximum cantilever of pier No. 2 was selected as a research objective to conduct comprehensive study on linear and nonlinear stability of the bridgeunder two conditions of normal operation and unilateral drop of cradle. On the basis,the two kinds stability problems and the nonlinear stability of thehigh pier with or without considering hoop reinforcement effect were made by introducing the conception of stability safety storage coefficient.
Research conclusions:(1)The weight of the bridge plays a key role in controlling linear stability.(2)Wind load does not affect linear stability of the bridge,but has obvious effects on nonlinear stability of the bridge.(3)Analysis method and evaluation standard of linear stability is suitable for the long-span continuous rigid frame bridge with high pier. (4)As for columns considering confinement effect of ordinary hoops,limit value of stabilization coefficient of 4~5 is stillsuitable. However, for columns without considering confinement effect of ordinary hoops,limit value of stabilization coefficient should be increased properly.(5)The results may be referenced in structural design and construction of long-span continuous rigid frame bridge with high pier.

The Type Research on Super Large Tonnage Hinge of Horizontal Rotating Stayed Bridge

Research purposes:A single tower four spacial cable faces prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge is adopted on the main road crossing the existing major railway in one city,the construction used rotating methods,rotating weight was 33,000 tons,far beyond the existing engineering practice,to provide the basis for the research of suitable rotating hinge type of large tonnage rotating construction in the engineering.
Research conclusions:(1)The stiffness of sphere hinge is greater than flat hinge,the ability of sphere hinge adapting to the eccentric load is stronger than flat hinge.(2)The forces of concrete at the bottom of the sphere hinge are less than flat hinge.(3)At rotating support coordination,rotating structure stress and deformation uniformity,stability of traction,rotating safety,beam body attitude adjustment after rotating,construction of implement,adjustable performance when problems and so on,the sphere hinge all have better performance;the flat hinge requirements of construction control is much higher, the load asymmetric distribution from upper rotating structure and the mounting surface error will affect the rotating reliability significantly.(4)The selected type of sphere hinge in the rotating design of super large tonnage of 33,000 tons is appropriate.(5)The study may provide a reference for super large tonnage rotating construction crossing the existing structure with large span bridge,and strongly expand the scope of application of rotating construction method.

Analysis of Deformation Characteristics Tertiary Clay Tunnel and Support Measures in Upper

Research purposes:There usually are many problems during tunnel construction in the Upper Tertiary water- rich clay tunnel,such as initial support deformation,cracking,even collapse. Based on a tunnel typical instance in Shanxi Central-south Region Railway corridor project,combined with field investigation and monitoring measurement, this paper discussed the deformation characteristics and analyzed the suitable support measures in the Upper Tertiary water-rich clay tunnel,and the research results can provide some scientific theory and construction guidelines.
Research conclusions:(1)The convergence deformation of sidewalk is 1 .5-2 times as much as that of the arch,and the stability of surrounding rock in deformation of sidewalk takes much more days in the Upper Tertiary water-rich clay tunnel. (2)The deformation of this clay tunnel is influenced by the combined time-spatial effects,and the ratio of deformation produced by the time-effect has hysteretic nature,the big deformation place don't often happened in the tunnel face,but in the back of 15-25 m away from the tunnel face,just to say the sidewalk deformation effect range is 3D-5D("D" means the diameter of tunnel excavating).(3)After excavating the tunnel,using strong initial supports which can offset the effects of time-spatial characteristics,and also can provide enough resistance to offset the surrounding rock deformation before secondary lining construction.(4)The research results can be used widely into design and construction in the same geotechnical clay tunnel.

Research and Discussion of Several Issues on Structural Calculation for Shield Tunnel Lining

Research purposes:As for the popular methods adopted in structure calculation for shield tunnel lining, random size division of lining element and random function mode of constraint spring acted on lining are always found. And ground overload are always directly applied on shield lining without considering stress reduction during its transformation process. So,concrete principle of lining element division and the function mode of ground spring should be put forward,and corresponding calculation theory should be put forward based on the mechanism and influences of ground overload.
Research conclusions:Form the study,it is concluded:(1)Little influences on lining stresses for different element length. Relatively fine lining element division is beneficial to lead a more accurate result.(2)The normal and tangential spring can be substituted by horizontal and vertical spring,then the spring value can be corresponded with geology survey report.(3)Ground overload can be proportionally reduced based on the loosed earth pressure or earth pressure arch,and the reduction factor is put forward correspondingly. Then,the positive relationship between ground overload and lining stress is made clear. (4)The scope of local ground overload and its relative positional relationship with tunnel,and the diffusion angle of ground overload should be considered together for the determination of the concrete influences on lining stresses. And different lining structure calculation models based on different scope of additional ground overload are put forward correspondingly. (5)This study can lead a reference for the calculation model and calculation theory in underground engineering.

Research on the Target Reliability Index of Railway Tunnel Lining

Research purposes:In the current design code of railway tunnel,the application scope of the probability limit state design method is confined to the single line railway tunnelintegral lining,however, the present situation of railway tunnels in China is the lane and large span tunnel are more and more,the composite lining has been widely used in tunnel. Therefore the probability limit state method in the current design codecan not meet the need for tunnel engineering design,the application scope of the probability limit state method in railway tunnel design need to be extended. At the same time,for thefacilitate international communication,it is necessary to study railway tunnel probability limit state design method,and the structure design target reliability index is the basisfor application of probability limit state.
Research conclusions:Research shows that:(1)On three kinds of limit state of reinforced concrete limit state,concrete compressive and tensilelimit state,the corresponding mean value of reliable index are respectively 4. 27,13.71 and7.48. These calculation results show that the reliability level of existing railway tunnelliningreferenee maps is higher. (2)In the related codes of China,under the second safety level condition of the structure,for the ductility failure type, their reliability indexes are between 3 .2 and 4. 2,for the brittleness failure type,their reliability indexes are between 3 .7 and 4. 7.(3)The target reliability index of European countries has no relationship with failure mode,for the structure of the second level of safety grade,European countries regulations design target reliability index is 4. 26,and however it is 3. 71 in Britain.(4)Considering the calibration calculation results andtarget reliability indexes from the domestic and foreign codes,the target reliability index of railway tunnel lining on bearing capacity limit state was given, which will establish a basis for China railway tunnel structure reliability design. When the safety grade is the second level,for two state of ductile failure and brittle failure,the corresponding target reliability index were 4. 2 and 4. 7,if the safety grade is first or third level,the eorrespondingtarget reliability indexes are increased or decreased by 0. 5. (5)The research results had been successfully applied to the Provisional Code for Railway Tunnel Limit State Method.

Analysis of Partial Coefficient Optimization of Lining Structure in Railway Tunnel

Research purposes:The practical design expression with a partial coefficient,not only inherited the form of traditional structural design,but also reflected the structural design requirements for the target reliability index. It is the important way to measure the level of structure security with application of a reliable indicator. According to the stress characteristics and material properties of railway tunnel lining structure,the load-structure model is established using the three kinds of limit states design equations of the compressive concrete lining structure,the anti一cracking concrete lining structure and reinforced concrete lining structure.
Research conclusions:The statistical characteristic of railway tunnel lining structure effect is analyzed using Monte-Carlo stochastic finite element method,according to the probability statistical characteristics of material characteristic resistance and difference minimization principle between the calculated reliability index and the target reliability index,the following conclusions are analyzed:(1)The railway tunnel lining structure is checked,the surrounding rock pressure partial coefficient is 1 .4,gravity loads partial coefficient is 1 .2.(2)The three kinds of adjustment coefficients of reinforced concrete,concrete compressive strength,concrete anti一cracking coefficient are 1 .OS,1 .85,2. 35.(3)The calculation results can provide theoretical basis for the railway tunnel design equations;partial coefficient code revision.

Study on Optimizing Limit States Design of Railway Tunnel Composite Lining

Research purposes:With constant development of design and construction technology of tunnel,the deficiencies of limit states design method in current Code for Design on Tunnel of Railway in practical application has been shown. In order to apply to practice better, the paper presents some advice for optimizing limit states design method in new requirements by doing research.
Research conclusions:(1)New practical limit states design equations of railway tunnel are established.(2)Newoptimization principles and determination methods of partial coefficients are provided.(3)Partial coefficients for the loads of railway tunnel composite lining,in good accordance with target reliability index,are obtained through practical examples. (4)The research results can be directly used to guide the design of the tunnel composite lining and guide to revise the Code for Design on Tunnel of Railway.

Statistical Characteristics Analysis of Structural Action Effects of the Railway Tunnel Composite Lining

Research purposes:The probability and statistics feature analysis of action effects is one important part of thetunnel reliability analysis. This paper calculated the composite lining of railway tunnel by using Monte一carlo stochastic finite element method to try to give qualitative conclusions,with analyzing the aspects on the sampling frequency,distribution characteristics and the sensitivity of various parameters to the result.
Research conclusions:(1)In probability action effects analysis of the supporting structure of the tunnel using Monte-carlo statistical characteristics of stochastic finite element method,it can select a random sample of 10,000 times to simulate variable;(2)The coefficient of variation of composite lining effect and coefficient of variation of load are roughly equal;(3)Action effects can be obtained by histogram accepted normal distribution and hypothesis testing;(4)By analyzing the basic random variable degree of influence on the action effects,the equivalent collapse is the most important factor affecting the height of primary support and secondary lining axial force,followed by the thickness of the structure and the elastic modulus of the material,and the biggest impact of eccentricity is the elastic reaction coefficient, in future work should strengthen the study of rock pressure and elastic reaction cofficient;(5)The calculation results can provide theoretical basis for the railway tunnel design code revision.

Research on the Strengthening Measures of Lightning Protection for the Traction Substation

Research purposes:With the development of the electrified railways,lightning is one of the important factors which endangering safe and reliable operation of the traction substation. The lightning accident of the traction substation was occurred from time to time. In order to improve the traction substation’s lightning protection level,it is studied according to the lightning accident of a 220 kV traction substation. It’s a typical accident and the equipments of the traction substation are damaged seriously. This study aims to analyze the cause and the process of this accident based on the calculation of the lightning current amplitude,lightning overvoltage,arcing rate,and the short circuit current,give the strengthening measures of lightning protection to avoid the similar accident.
Research conclusions:(1)The direct lightning stroke will be led into the substation when the lightning strikes the overhead return line if it’S lnstalled t00 high arid the arrester Wlll be destroyed if the Overhead feeder hne lsn’t installed incoming protection line. (2)Some proposals can improve the substation’s lightning protection lever, such as installing the incoming lightning protection line of the feeder, strengthening the grounding line,researching the bus一bar protection relay,and so on.(3)The research results are mainly used for optimization program and design fields on the traction substation lightning protection.

Comprehensive Development Analysis of Intercity Railway Station

Research purposes:The intercity rail transit is a project with a large investment,long construction period and operation of the engineering cost recovery slow after the project,so at the beginning of the construction and operation period,inevitably brings the economic burden for the investment project owner. Comprehensive development of intercity railway,not only can further expanding the scope of the passenger flow attracted,give full play to the role of the intercity rail transit as the main traffic,but also can make a significant contribution to reduce construction financial difficulty and promote sustainable development of the city. Through the technology integration and method innovation,the comprehensive value along the site surrounding rail transit projects is improved,to achieve self balancing.
Research conclusions:(1)Because the capital is used in the two years before the start of railway construction,the comprehensive development revenue is acquired after the completion of the railway,the development proceeds cannot be directly used for capital in the project. (2)The development proceeds can be used to compensate for operating cash flow of the project.(3)If the development proceeds are enough,they will return as other railway project capital investment, to meet the investment requirements with more construction projects and more relaxed construction schedule.(4)The research results are of great significance to study the comprehensive development project in other regions and projects.

Research on the Combination of the Xi'an Railway Station Reconstruction and the Subway Station

Abstract:Research purposes:The existing railway station renovation project is complex and part of the operations cannot be interrupted. So realizing zero distance interchange with the railway,choosing subway construction methods legitimately, controlling roadbed subsidence of railway stations and ensuring the train operation safety are significant aspects for the railway station hub renovation project. According to the reality of Xi'an subway line 4 by mining method passing through the existing Xi'an railway station and the renovation project,this paper put forward that the integrated design between reorganization and expansion of Xi' an railway station and subway construction restricted and adapted mutually. Additionally,security risk control system of concealed excavation of tunnels was analyzed,how to link up all kinds of transportations,make reasonable plans,distribute operations and strengthen the structure safety measures was discussed, the recognition of the perfect combination between architecture function and structural method was triggered.
Research conclusions:(1)The paper expounds the railway station renovation project is combined with history protection and innovation. It is the key problem needed to be solved that is the reasonable choice of subway stations and the construction methods. Furthermore,realizing transfer function and ensuring the railway operation safe are the main purposes. (2)The detailed exploration of underground is necessary. The subway tunnel should implement the whole section grouting to stop water and tube shed measure.Additionally,strengthening the monitoring of environment,information construction and dynamic analysis,early warning and feedback ,effectively controlling the underlying is necessary.(3)Taking timely measures to limit train speed and reinforce rail,effectively controlling the underlying settlement and project risk are significant for railway transportation hub renovation design and other similar projects.

Research purposes:As a new mode of rail transportation,urban一suburban railway differs from intercity rail and urban rail transport in terms of function and technical characteristics. Route selection of urban一suburban railway always is closely related with the existing railway within urban area,at the same time its alignments should comply with the function of the existing railway and urban一suburban railway. Based on the condition that Wenzhou urban- suburban railway line S1(here in after referred to as line S1)and Jinhua一Wenzhou Railway shares the same route in the city area,the paper discusses the use of the Jinhua一Wenzhou Railway channel in line S1,obtains a reasonable solution for line S1,and finally draws the main points of using method of existing route in urban一suburban railway design in order to provide references for related projects.
Research conclusions:(1)The pre一condition of analyzing the use patterns of the existing route is to determine its functional orientation in the railway network. (2)There are mainly three ways for urban一suburban railway to utilize an existing railway line,including demolition and reconstruction,building a second line and building a new double一track line.(3)In the section of the shared route with existing line,it is quite necessary to analyze the current situation of the city and urban planning both at recent and in the long term. ( 4)The research results can provide references for other cities in cases of determining which way to choose when sharing route with the existing railway line.

Research on the Scheme for the Station Sidings in the Express/Slow Metro Train Organization Mode

Research purposes:At present,some domestic cities have begun to study and adopt the express/slow metro train organization mode,the slow metro train stops at the overtaking station to dodge the express metro train,and the express metro train overtakes in order to improve the speed and reduce the dwell time to achieve the purpose of fast, which will solve the fast travel demand of the long一haul passenger between different groups. In order to ensure the security,punctuality,convenience and economy of the train operation,it is necessary to study the station sidings,which will provide the beneficial reference for the future design and implementation.
Research conclusions:(1)This paper puts forward the design principles for station sidings on the base of the express/ slow metro train organization mode. (2)This paper proposes a variety of design schemes about the station sidings for the overtaking station,and after the comprehensive comparison,puts forward the station sidings schemes outside main line of double island and inside main line of double island to ensure the operation function.(3)It also puts forward many schemes and recommendations about the station sidings for the overtaking station,stop line station and turn一back station. ( 4)The research conclusions will be applied to the future design and implementation of the urban rail transit.

Assessment of Electromagnetic Impact on Airport Navigation Facilities of Intercity Rail Transit

Research purposes:Intercity rail transit is a new form of rail transit. In order to facilitate the transfer, electromagnetic compatibility between intercity rail transit and the airport navigation facilities is increasedly concerned. By using electromagnetic radiation testing results of a number of recent domestic urban rail transit systems,this paper predictively analyzed the electromagnetic impact of Nanjing一Gaochun intercity DC rail transit on some airport navigation facilities of Nanjing Lukou,and provided the technical basis for the rationality and feasibility of intercity rail transit line selection.
Research conclusions:(1)The electromagnetic radiation generated by train running on Nanjing一Gaochun intercity DC rail transit while it is in tunnel is shielded and will no longer pose a threat to the navigation facilities on board or on the ground.(2)After the lateral attenuation,the component corresponding radar and pointing beacon'.s operating frequency of electromagnetic radiation generated by the train at the tunnel portal decreases sharply. Especially to the ATC secondary radar, the interference component is lower than background values.(3)The conclusions above provide the technical basis for intercity rail transit line selection.

Design and Research of Outdoor Integrated Pipelines for Metro Depot with the Upper Cover Development

Research purposes:According to the two type society construction requirements of resource saving and environment friendly,the construction is increasing for metro depots with the upper cover development,however, the layout of outdoor pipelines directly restricts the general layout for depot. Through this research,the factors hindering outdoor pipelines layout and solutions are found.
Research conclusions:(1)In the construction of rail transit, in order to intensive use of land,projects for depot with cover are increasing. Meanwhile,depot layout design is conditioned by it.(2)Design of outdoor comprehensive pipeline for depot needs to give full consideration to the effect of cover, and comprehensive pipeline of outdoor channel is planned in advance. At the moment of the preliminary design for cover, the interface of outdoor pipeline design must be clear, and the height and size for the key nodes of foundation beam for cover are controlled.(3)Numbers of outdoor pipeline for depot with cover are related with forms of development planning,Which mainly contain the domestic sewage pipe,rain pipe,power cable,etc.(4)The outdoor pipeline layout for cover depot is different from regular depot,such as the station drainage,road slope settings,line numbers,and so on .The design of outdoor pipeline layout for a cover depot should give full consideration to foundation beam of pipe laying,to consider the reserved of tower crane foundation,and the pipeline installation space for general layout,etc.(5)The research results can provide a reference for similar project of depot comprehensive outdoor pipeline design with cover.
