1 Application of Earth Observation Technology in Railway Survey and Design

Abstract: Research purposes: For along time,although the earth observation technology plays an important role in railway survey and design,but there is relative lag of its application in railway survey and design in China when the new earth observation technology achieves a rapid development. Now the China railway has entered the era of high speed,with the development of the latest earth observation technology,the new process flow and the breakthrough of the earth observation technology that is available for the railway survey and design mus be found.
Research conclusions: Aiming at the development trend of the latest earth observation technology development,on one hand ,the applied potential of the existing earth observation technology and data should be unearthed,and on the other hand,the research and application should be strengthened for the latest earth observation technology and its achievements,such as the digital aerial photography,the airborne laser radar and the high resolution satellite image data. Not only can the earth observation technology be applied in the national basis mapping,but also can be applied in the railway topographic mapping,railway track alignment,railway engineering geologic survey and railway environment evaluation.

5 Discussion on Integration and Sharing of Mapping Data in Railway Industry

Research purposes: Aiming at the railway mapping data's characteristics of the zonal shape,multi - format and multi - location with huge data size and the problems of the low efficiency of data exchange among various professional areas,abnormal management of data and low efficiency of data re - usage,this paper discusses the key technology for the integration and sharing of metadata - based mapping data for providing the reference to the normal management of the railway mapping data and improvement of the exchange efficiency and service quality.
Research conclusions: For solving the problems mentioned above,a method is offered for integration and sharing of the metadat - based mapping data,the standard is worked out for the railway mapping metadata and the connection chart -based three - dimensional visualization inquiry technology is developed for providing the powerful means for the management and application of the railway mapping data. The research result shows this method can meet the demands of the normal management and high - efficient application of the railway mapping data.

10 Analysis of Reasons for Karst Ground Collapse in Zhoujia Village and Its Environment Evaluation

Abstract: Research purposes: By analysing the karst ground collapse caused by the bore and cast pile for the DarongRiver Double - track Grand Bridge of the Hunan - Guangxi Railway in Zhoujia Village,the evaluation was made for theinfluence of karst ground collapse on the groundwater environment and foundation stability.
Research conclusions: The vibration of the construction machines was the main reasons for the karst ground collapse.After completion of the construction,the karst ground collapse did not have serious impact on the groundwaterenvironment and ground stability. In construction of high - speed railway,the influence of karst ground collapse on thesurrounding environment should be adequately considered.

13 Analysis of Embankment U - shaped Structure with Finite Element Method

Research purposes: As intercity rail transit and passenger dedicated line pass through the developed areas,the land resource in these areas becomes less and less,so the track requires higher standard for the post - construction settlement of the subgrade. In this paper,an embankment U - shaped structure is presented. By using it,the land resource can be saved,the embankment stability can be enhanced and the post - construction settlement of the subgrade can be cut. It can provide the reference to the subgrades of the intercity rail transit and passenger dedicated line built in the plain area with bad geological conditions.
Research conclusions: The load bearing and deformation laws of the embankment U - shaped structure are analyzed to obtain the change law of the stress - strain of the bottom plate and side - wall corresponding to the structure height and thickness. The moments of X axial direction of the bottom plate and side - wall are the control moments. The max moment of bottom plate is on the side - wall,and the max moment of side - wall is on bottom. The embankment U - shaped structure has features of higher whole stability and less deformation and it can control the subgrade deformation effectively.

19 Research on Ground Reinforcement for Replacing Cutters for Long - distance and Large Diameter Shield Driving in Pebble Layer

Research purposes: The long - distance and large diameter shield driving in the pebble layer is a worldwide problem in the shield driving. A 12m diameter shield machine was used for one project and driving 5. 2km was realized by one cutter head. When the shield machine drove in pebble layer,its cutters and cutter head were abrased seriously. So the place of stopping the shield machine was planned for checking and replacing the cutters and cutter heads. In order to make sure the safety of whole project,it was necessary to research the corresponding measures for reinforcing the ground surface for replacing the cutters of the shield machine.
Research conclusions: No matter entering the chamber under the working pressure or under the normal pressure,it was necessary to take the corresponding ground reinforcement measures to improve the stability and compactness of the stratum around the shield machine for guaranteeing the safety of construction. When entering chamber under working pressure for replacing the cutters,the back grouting could be used step by step for reinforcing the ground surface. When entering chamber with normal pressure for replacing cutters,the drilled pile could be used along with grouting between piles for reinforcing the ground surface.

25 Study on Transmission Laws of Train Load in Subgrade of High - speed Railway

Research purposes: For the further optimization and determination of the compaction standards for the subgrade structure,filling materials and all structure layers of high - speed railway,the transmission and distribution of the vertical stress of the high embankment in the standard subgrade bed with the different deep planes under the effects of the train loads on the single track,double tracks and four tracks were analyzed with finite element method,and the corresponding transmission and distribution laws were offered.
Research conclusions: The train load on the the subgrade top was down transmitted almost along the 45°direction. The load was overlapped in the bedding bottom under the effect of the train loads on the multiple tracks. The vertical stress in the foundation base caused by the train load was distributed unevenly and it was distributed with a curve that the stress in the middle region was bigger than that in the periphery. The maximum vertical stress appeared in the middle of the subgrade bed under the effect of the symmetrical train load.

32 Discussion on Common Problems in Design of High Standard Railway Cut Slope

Research purposes: In the design of a high standard railway cut slope,many factors must be considered.This paper discusses the common problems in design of a high standard railway cut slope and presents the new solution on them for providing the reference to the similar works.
Research conclusions: In the design of a high standard railway cut slope,not only must the cut slope stability be considered,but also must the durability and beauty be considered. Only both of them are achieved,the perfect effect can be obtained. According to the geological characteristics of the slope,the slope stability should be analyzed,the rational reinforcement measures should be taken and the drain system should be improved. In this way,the long - term durability can be obtained and the perfect environmental beauty effect can be achieved.

37 Research on Sectional Overlapping Data Processing of Track Control Network for High - speed Railway

Research purposes: Whether the overlapping of the adjacent section of track control network( CPIII) for high - speed railway is rational or not will affect the track regularity and the computation results of checking the long and short waves of the track. Combining with the real projects,this paper researches the two main ways for the section overlapping of the tack control networks in China,offers the methods for calculation of two kinds of overlapping,compares their results,analyzes their advantages and disadvantages and explains the treatment method for the condition that the discrepancy exceeds the tolerance before the overlapping adjustment for the purpose of providing the reference to the similar projects in future.
Research conclusions: Under the condition that the coordinates discrepancy of CPⅢ points in adjacent two overlapping sections are lower than 3 mm after independent adjustment,the overlapping smooth results obtained with these two methods can meet the demand of checking the long and short waves of the track. From the angles of the survey theory,practice and application,the rigorous adjustment overlapping method is more reliable,its maneuverability of the overlapping data processing is better,and it is more available for the engineering survey.

41 Research on Development Direction of Track Technology of Heavy - haul Railway

Research purposes: As the traffic volume of heavy - haul railway is big and the axle load of the train running on heavy haul railway is heavy,the damage of the track structure of heavy - haul railway is much intensified,so the higher requirement is needed for the track structure of the heavy - haul railway. Starting with the developments of the heavy - haul railways at home and aboard,after summing up and analyzing the current situations and existing problems of the track structure of the heavy - haul railway at home and aboard,this paper offers the advices on the development direction of the track technology of the heavy - haul railway for providing the reference to the research on the track technology of heavy - haul railway at home and abroad.
Research conclusions: The heavy haul railway is a system engineering,so in the research the following principles should be followed: the equal stress should be laid on the track subsystem and other subsystem,on the theoretical research and experiment research,and on the new track component research and new maintenance equipment research. Especially, the structure theoretical research must be stressed,the new track structure research and new track components research should be promoted,the detection and maintenance technologies of the track of heavy - haul railway should be strengthened,and the development of professional large - sized permanent way maintenance machine should be speeded up.

45 Research on Key Points of Durability Design of Precast Segment Assembling Bridge

Research purposes: The construction technology of the precast segment assembling bridge is in the development period in China. As such kind of bridge has its own features,the more attention should be paid to the durability,especially the durabilities of the segment joints and pretressing system. Combining with the practices of durability design and construction measure for the precast segment assembling bridge at home and abroad,this paper offers the key technical advices on the durability design of the precast segment assembling bridge for providing the reference to the similar works.
Research conclusions: In the durability design of the segment joint,it is important to set up the reasonable number and positions of segment joints and well make the structure design of the shear connector,and at the same time,the attention should be paid to the index requirement of the epoxy adhesive. If the bridge is of the prestressed structure,the full prestressing system should be adopted. The structure calculation and prestressing tendon adjustments should tally with the technical features of precast gegment assembling bridge. The grouting quality of pretressed pipe should be strictly controlled,and the attention should be paid to the shock absorption and anticorrosion of externally.

50 Research on Prediction Method for Squeezing Deformation of SurroundingRock of Tunnel

Research purposes: To predicate the squeezing deformation of the surrounding rock of tunnel is an important work for the survey and design of the weak surrounding rock tunnel in high stress area. There are limitations when using commonly - used prediction ways such as critical burying method and critical stress ratio method. So it is urgent to need a new and available method for prediction of the squeezing deformation of the surrounding rock of tunnel.
Research conclusions: The squeezing deformation of surrounding rock can be predicted by strength stress ratio value F, and it is proposed to use the Hock - Brown strength criterion and GSI method to estimate the rock mass strength and use the maximum crustal stress trending to the tunnel as the crustal stress in the strength stress ratio value F. Usually,the destroy of the squeezing deformation happens when the F is less than or equal to 1 and the severe squeezing deformation happens when the F is less than or equal to 0. 5. Therefore,the 0. 5 and 1 can be separately used as the critical values for the squeezing deformation with different degrees. The practice shows the value F method is reliable for prediction of the squeezing deformation of the surrounding rock.

55 Study on High Stress of Cuihuashan Super Long Tunnel in Qinling Mountain Area

Research purposes: About of the high stress of the deep - buried long tunnel,there are many theories and criterions,and the different criterions are used for the different industries and projects. How to predict the geologicaldisaster of rock outburst to direct the safe construction is a question. Through the survey prediction and construction verification of the Cuihuashan Super Long Tunnel in Qinling Mountain area,this paper studies the issues of the high stress of tunnel and how to predict the geological disaster of rock outburst.
Research conclusions: As the included angle between the maximum horizontal principal stress direction and tunnel axis direction of the Cuihuashan Super Long Tunnel is over large,the rock outburst is inevitable. The conclusion that there is possible to happen thge rock outburst obtained by calculating stress parameters and rock parameters has a certain one - sidedness. The construction practice of the Cuihuashan Tunnel proves that the rock outburest should be assessed by using various criterions to make the prediction closer to the actual situation.

59 Design of Connection Structure of Newly - built West and East Sub - station Building of Shenyang South Station

Research purposes: The roof grid structure of west and east sub - station building of newly - built Shenyang South Station is supported by two towers to make the whole structure becoming a connection structure with complex load bearing situations. This paper researches the whole load bearing characteristics of the grid structures with different types of support in order to choose the suitable support of the grid structure.
Research conclusions: The comparison is made between the whole load bearing situations of the grid structure of the west and east sub - station building when using a bidirectional spring support and a fixed hinge support. The calculation and analysis show using a bidirectional spring support can much cut the horizontal thrust of the roof grid structure on the column of the bearing frame and the temperature stress. In this paper,the time - history analysis is also made under condition of the seldom earthquake to know the maximum deformation volume of the grid structure support under the effect of the seldom earthquake. The allowable deformation volume of the bidirectional spring support should meet its maximum deformation volume caused by the effect of the seldom earthquake.

64 Research on Design of Infrastructure Maintenance Base of PassengerDedicated Line

Research purposes: In order to meet the design requirements of the infrastructure maintenance base of the passenger dedicated line at home and abroad,this paper summarize the design of the Chinese first infrastructure maintenance base of passenger dedicated line in Guangzhou and deeply discusses the functional orientation,design size and general layout of the maintenance base for the purposes of offering the new ideas and providing the references to the similar works in future.
Research conclusions: The infrastructure maintenance base of passenger dedicated line should be designed on consideration of the whole railway network in China. The distribution and functional orientation of the base should be chosen reasonably. The base site should be selected on the premise of meeting the requirements of the railway plan. The comprehensive decision should be made on consideration of the various factors to reduce the impact on the environment. When making the general layout design of the base,the layout should be reasonably compact without disturbances of various production and maintenance processes each other and the design of various pipelines should be improved with the reserved condition for future.

69 Research on Track Alignment of Urban Rail Transit in Valley Pattern City

Research purposes: Lanzhou is located in the upper - middle reaches of Yellow River with the Yellow crossing it and it belongs to a valley pattern city. As there are lots of differences between the valley pattern city and other pattern city,the track alignment of the urban rail transit in the valley pattern city can not copy the mode of the other pattern city. According to the Lanzhou Rail Transit Plan,this paper analyzes and summarizes the problems in the track alignment of Lanzhou rail transit for providing the reference to the similar works.
Research conclusions: Whether the track alignment is reasonable or not directly impacts the efficiency of the whole urban transportation system because the valley city is limited by its topographic condition and the road resource is in short supply. The track alignment of the rail transit in the valley patten city should consider the influence factors,such as the subjective and objective stream corridor,avoiding the passenger flow in one direction,the demand of the passenger crossing the river and natural gulley.

72 Research on Security of Single Junction Track with Small Track Spacing

Research purposes: For re - using the idling state - own assets,the existing underground facilities are used for the some urban rail transits. As the track spacing is small and it is difficult to increase the track track spacing,the existing track spacing has to be reserved,but the relative code requires that the track spacing of the single junction track should not be less than the certain value. The defence tunnel was used for the first phase project of Harbin rail transit and its track spacing was determined as 3. 4 m due to the limitation bounds. According to the requirements,the single junction tracks with 3. 4m track spacing were installed in the two existing stations. At that time,there was a little experiments of designing,laying,operating and repairing the single junction track with small track spacing. Therefore, besides being necessary to research the security of the junction track structure,it was necessary to analyze and research the derail and its risks of the train at the different running positions to ensure the train safety.
Research conclusions: ( 1 ) When the train passes through the single junction track with small track spacing,the otation angle of the bogie on worst position was in the allowable range of the bogie structure property. The rotation angle and stroke of the train couple on the worst position were in the allowable range of the train couple structure property. ( 2) The train speed did not exceed the 20 km/h when the train run on the single junction track with 3. 4 m track spacing in side direction without passenger. The train speed did not exceed the 15 km / h when the train run on the single junction track with 3. 4 m track spacing in side direction with passenger.

78 Discussion on Project Interface Management of Vechile Base of Urban Rail Transit

Research purposes: The vehicle depot and integrated base of urban rail transit is one of complex and comprehesive municipal works which involves in many majors,departments,systems and cross interfaces. In the different design stage,there is the different interfaces to be stressed on. How to master the key interfaces and straighten out interface relations are crucial to the overall project quanlity,project investment and construction period. Based on describing the engineering features of the vehicle base,the relations among the constructors,the research objectives invarious design stage,taking the design stage as the axial line,this paper analyzes the main interface contents,theinterface goal and the interface execution way in the various design stages that have big impact on the whole project, offers the management process of the vehicle base,points out the risks of the main technical interfaces and puts forward the measures for prevention of the risk.
Research conclusions: The vehicle base of urban rail transit should be designed according to the research objectives in various design stages and the goals that should be achieved in the corresponding stages. Putting the interface in order should be strengthened,the interface relation should be straightened out,the interface standard should be clear and definite,the key points of the interface should be grasped and the measures for prevention of the interface risk should be mastered.

86 Analysis of Transfer Station of the Second Phase Project of Line 4 of Wuhan Rail Transit

Research purposes: The second phase project of Line 4 of Wuhan rail transit passes through downtown area of Wuhan city,and it interchanges with many metro lines. During the construction,the rail transit project should be coordinated with many planned or under - construction municipial projects because several downtown areas are under development. Through introducing the programs of the transfer stations of the second phase of Line 4 of Wuhan rail transit,this paper discusses the control factors and design process of the various transfer stations,and coordination with the manicipal projects. Starting with the project implementation and the convenience of passenger interchange,and at same time consideration of demands of city development planning,this paper also offers the clear thought on the transfer station design.
Research conclusions: ( 1) Besides satisifing the interchange needs of tranportaion,the metro transfer stations should be designed with the design and construction of the relevent municipal projects at the same time,and coordinated with urban development. ( 2) The under - construction urban areas can make use of the opportunity of metro constructionto to improve the urban underground space construction to make the regional transportation organization better.

90 Research on Three - dimensional Model of Regional Transportation Hub of Metro with High - speed Railway

Research purposes: Metro has become an indispensable urban traffic mode. With the extension of metro line,the relation between the metro and the other transportation modes of the national railway,high - speed railway, road transport and aviation transport becomes closer. So it is necessary to analyze and research the tranship design between metro station and high - speed railway station and the other transportation modes to make the three - dimensional development of the regional transportation hub more reasonable.
Research conclusions: Taking the design of the Taiyuan Metro South Station as an example,this paper describes the traffic streamlines used for the passenger transfer in the underground central transfer hall between the metro station and high - speed station to make all streamlines unobstructed among the high - speed railway,metro,parking area, commercial area and square,analyzes the special treatment method for the underground engineering approach of the metro across the Taiyuan South Railway Station,suggests to us shield construction for this area,and looks forward to the regional transport hub that will promote the development of downtown business district and become the typical leading model of three - dimensional development of the regional transport hub.

97 Evaluation Model for Bidding Risk of BOT Project of Passenger Dedicated Line

Research purposes: With the shortage of construction funds and inadequate infrastructure being increasingly prominent in China,to speed up the construction of railways and other infrastructure with the commonly - used BOT mode in the world is inevitable of the development of the era. The bidding scheme quality is crucial to the success bidding. As the BOT project has the features of long construction period,large construction investment,needing complex technology,many changeable factors and big project risk,the bidder will take the big risk when drawing up the bidding scheme.
Research conclusions: Staring with the system theory,the decision - making evaluation index system is established for the bidding scheme for the BOT project of passenger dedicated line and the evaluation is made with grey situation decision - making model. In the railway BOT project,there are lots of factors to influence the project risks and it is difficult to determine the relations among the influence factors. Now the commonly - used evaluation methods include thecomprehensive fuzzy evaluation model,ANN model and so on. These methods have their own advantages,but also they have disadvantages. With these methods,the differences of the comprehensive optimization index values are not obvious of various schemes and the model results are affected by the objective factors. Especially,with these methods,the high risks of railway BOT project can not be considered. The result of the model presented in this paper can not be affected by the objective factors,so this model is more accurate and effective in revealing the differences of the comprehensive optimization index values of various bidding schemes. This model has universal property,so it can be available for BOT projects of the highway and power supply.

Research conclusions: This paper deeply analyzed the development characteristic of the survey & design enterprises from the enterprise scale,development mode and profit mode. Through the research,we thought the international trait and the function of lump - sum contracting have become the keys for the transformation to international engineering companies. Domestic survey and design enterprises should be the pioneer of going out,execute the strategy of international operation,and build the international trait. At the same time,we must promote business model change from the ability oriented to demand oriented,optimize the product structure,and cultivate the function of lump - sum contracting.

106 Discussion on Railway Transportation Development Direction under Condition of Accelerating Urbanization Process

Research purposes: With accelerating the process of urbanization,enlarging the urban population rapidly and increasing the travel demand of people,the pressure on the transportation is increasing and the land resource is becoming less and less. Therefore,the development of new subsystem of the railway transportation not only can satisfy the travel demand of people,alleviate the urban traffic pressure,drive downtown population transferring from central city to suburbs and satellite towns and guide cities development more healthy and orderly,but also railway transportation enterprises can take this opportunity to bring into its advantage fully to exploit much more extensive market and create more economic and social benefits.
Research conclusions: ( 1) As the downtown population and traffic pressure increases,the urban layout extends to the outside areas,suburbs and satellite towns of the city. The appearance of large - capacity urban rail transit can save the usage of the economical land and ease the urban traffic pressure. ( 2) The development of suburban railway and inner - city railway can ease the suburban and inner - city traffic pressures to undertake the transportation task that the highway transportation can not do,and it also can open new areas for railway transportation.
