Abstract：Based on the developing progress of tunnel technology in home and abroad, according to the situations of our country, the paper explores several problems for raising technical level of design and construction of tunnels in China from the following three aspects: raising the engineering quality of tunnels, decreasing the engineering cost of tunnels, as well as attaching importance to environment protection. Several specific measures arc proposed also.
