Abstract:Research purposes: The 38 m+62 m+38 m rigid framed continuous girders of Nancang extra-long bridge of Tianjin railway terminal was designed for the closure under normal temperature. However, due to the impacts of the special conditions of removal and resettlement work the main span closure of the bridge was delayed until summer making high temperature closure inevitable. Based the this bridge, this paper briefly introduced some treatment measures for and personal experience in bridge closure under high temperatures for the purpose of providing certain reference and help to similar structural design and construction.
Research methods: Combined with the temperature environment when the closure of the bridge was made, a techno-economic analysis was performed based on the high temperature closure scheme. And the study was conducted by using the method of structural analysis and calculation in combination with field survey.
Research results: This paper suggested a whole set of successful construction experience and technical measures based on the high temperature closure.
Research conclusions: The combined scheme of temperature drop by shed-kept ice blocks and the application of jacking force to the mid-span closure section is a good example of treatment. This scheme is feasible in operation with good results and suitable for medium and minor span bridges, but should be carefully used for large span bridge structures attributable to the comparatively large working face.
