Abstract:Research purposes: On the basis of the fact that the road for one of the crossing of highway and railway in Tianjin drilled through the ground water cutting the problems in seepage and permeability of the ground water were solved through making researches on the design and calculation for the closed type U shape through cutting.
Research methods: According to the geological and hydrological conditions for this project and in combination with the research achievements at home and several successful practical examples, the analysis and calculation have been made on the design type selection, the stress of side wall and bottom board for the closed type U shape through cutting.
Research results: A set of successful design and calculation method was explored through the discussion for the related theory and technics problems of the closed type U shape through cutting. And a design example and experience to further extend the use of this structure type was provided.
Research conclusions: The closed type U shape through cutting is a new structure type, which is suitable to be used in the through cutting where soil is highly penetrable with water or ground water.
