Abstract:Research purposes: This paper carried out simulations of several often used anti-rockburst methods by using the discrete element method in order to provide theoretical basis for anti - rockburst design and ensure the safety of tunnel construction.
Research conclusions :The numerical simulation results show that the rock softening method by spraying water onto the rock surface is to achive the stress reduction in surface rock by reducing the rock deformation modulus, and thus suitable only for rock mass with strong water absoption. The stress release method by drilling holes is to achieve stress migration from surface rock to inner rock by drilling holes on the walls, and more suitable for weak to stronger rockbursts. The stress release method by blasting behind the work face is,however, to achieve more tangential stress transferring from surface rock to inner rock by conducting advanced blasting, and thus most applicable to strong rockbursts.
