Abstract：Research purposes: The equivalent load concept is introduced for purposes of enhancing the speed and security of installing catenary. The analyses of its shortcomings are made and the relative measures for them presented.
Research results: Application of equivalent tension not only reduces the tension of catenary, but also enhances its speed and improves construction security. And the requirement of installing catenary in place for one time can be met by this method.
