Abstract：There are much more waterproofing methods for building underwater bridge foun?dations* During constructing the bored piles or enlarging the foundations，the lighter and more convenient steel jacket box may be used instead of using the steel sheet pile as the cof-ferdam. The paper introduces systematically the design and the manufacture of the steel jacket box，the engineering technique of its installation and waterproofing * the scope of its applications，the matters needing attention，etc.
