Abstract Based on the growth of local economy of Northwestern region，development of re?sources ? characteristic of passenger-flow and freight-flow among regions and forecasting of traffic demand in the future, this paper discusses the significance of construction of Xi1 an-Nanjing rail?way in the following four aspects： developing of North-Western region’s local economy? laying out of reasonable railway network ? enlarging transportation capacity of the Asia-Europe Conti?nental Bridge and raising local economy along the railway.
