Abstract The paper expounds the general situation of railways in the northwest regions of China. Along with the reform and open to foreign countries and the rapid development of nation?al economy? the necessities of speeding up the reformation of existing railway lines and the con?struction of new railway networks in the Northwest China are explained，and the planning con?ceptions for constructing railway networks in these northwest regions are proposed.
