Abstract The paper takes the water resource ground in Jiu—Xian village of Tai'an City as an example, discusses problems of environmental geology owing to overextracting of ground water in covered — type karst region, such as ground fracture, settlement, subsidence and house deformation, and describes main aspects and measures in exploring water resource ground.
