Abstract The technology of remote sensing has an excellent effect on the engineering geo?logical selection of railway line，especially，it has uncomparable advantages in the zones with important engineering and complex geological conditions. The main engineering geological conditions in the area where the railway goes through, important bad geological sites which control the route project and the effect of special geological phenomena on the line can be i?dentified efficiently and quickly within a wider zone，because the remotely sensed images have a wide view and rich information and the interpretation of them is carried on indoor. This method can not only prevent any value line project from being omitted,but also provide suffi?cient geological information for the comparison and selection of route projects.
