Abstract Men-dug piles w ere ex tensively ado pted as the retaining wall s fo r pit s in the desig n and construction o f the Gua ng zho u Subw ay. In the paper, the w ri ter int roduces briefly the types, desig ning methods and co nstructing sequence of the pi le-retaining wa ll, and makes some sugg estions acco rding to hi s ow n ex perience.
