Abstract The paper introduces more systema tically the fo rmatio n and dev eloping procedure o f the theory of prest ressed concrete and i ts recent resea rch directio n. Based o n the theory and practices, the superio ri ties o f the par tial prestressed concrete in the practical desig n are ex pounded. The opinions concerned w ith the research di rectio n fo r prest ressed co ncrete are also pro posed in thi s paper.
