Abstract The paper ana lyses the f lood disasters of o ne hundred fif ty fiv e bridg e crossing s. It is fo und o ut tha t some causes o f the di sas ters a re belo ng to co ng eni tal shortages w hich are created due to desig n and some causes a re belo ng to po sterio r mat ters w hich are unex pected during desig n. The paper enumerates the cont rol metho ds which had been used to co nt rol the di sasters and proposes a series o f measures to resist the f lood di saster of bridge crossing.
