Abstract The ex pa nsiv e la terite of Nato ng test roadbed engineering in Nanning-Kunming railw ay is a representa tiv e in Na nning basin. By ex periment a nd resea rch, st ratig raphic fo rma tion, g enetic type, mass composi tion, st ructure cha racteristic, physical and mechanica l properties a s w el l as streng th cha racteristics are sy stematically understood. Therefo re, a basis is provided for engineering desig n.
