Abstract The developing procedures of landform for the loess landslide in northern region of Shanxi Province are devided as three stages ,i. e. the initial stage of deformation,the middle stage of deforma?tion and the final stage of deformation.For diffirent developing stages ,the paper analyzes the stability of loess mass , its dynamic mechanism and the reason of its formation. And the corresponding principles of engineering installations and the countermeasures for its treatment are also proposed.
