Abstract The important situation and role in the great developing West China for the development of constructing the traffic foundation installations in the Northwest China are expounded in this paper. Combined with the situations in home and abroad，the advanced technologies，measures and economical developing plans are proposed. And based on the complex geological conditions in the the Northwest regions of China，from the view point of the subgrade engineering，several particular technological innovations are explored.
