Abstract In this paper，some problems have been successfully solved encountered in the fields of the Qin-Shen high speed railway construction when the CPN M C-3 PO RTAPROBE( Nuclear Density Apparatus) was used to test the effectiveness of roller compaction. It is considered necessary to use the Nuclear Density Apparatus in the construction of roadbed which needs high degree compaction. And on the basis of analysis，the description of some problems has been made which should be paid more attention when the Nuclear Density Apparatus is used to test the degree of compaction in high speed railway roadbed construction.
