Abstract According to the factors of the railway container freight station's volume of traffic, container yard layout and handling machineries, etc., the front handling mobile crane and the rail mounted gantry crane handling technology arc usually used in railway container freight stations. The comparison of technical and economic reasonableness between the two handling technology show that the rail mounted gantry crane handling technology system is suited to be used in large, medium railway container freight stations and the front handling mobile crane technology to be used in some miniature stations.
